21- IBS and SIBO SOS with SHivan Sarna
I want to bring a message of hope, connect people with experts, and bust some myths.
Dr. Rob Downey speaks with Shivan Sarna, who was set out on a mission to heal her gut and get her life back. But she quickly was frustrated by the lack of accurate and reliable information. She spent the next year traveling around the country for appointments with the leading SIBO experts, reading everything she could find online and becoming a “patient expert” herself.

About the Guest
After being diagnosed with Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth in 2015, Shivan Sarna set out on a mission to heal her gut and get her life back. But she quickly was frustrated by the lack of accurate and reliable information. She spent the next year traveling around the country for appointments with the leading SIBO experts, reading everything she could find online and becoming a “patient expert” herself.
Shivan had gotten the information she needed to manage her SIBO and IBS – but it hadn’t been easy. And as she got her own answers, she realized that she wasn’t the only one confused – it seemed like everyone she met had their own story of SIBO, IBS, and “tummy troubles.” Inspired by what she had learned (and how many people needed more help), Shivan made it her mission to bring SIBO experts from around the world together in one place to get help to people who needed it.
She created SIBO SOS to support others on their journey to understand, treat, and manage IBS, SIBO, and other digestive issues. Relying on her past as a yoga teacher and 20 years of experience hosting live TV, Shivan’s superpower is asking the questions SIBO patients have and then making that information easily understood and actionable. Through live Workshops, expert-led courses, a podcast, blog, and free Facebook community, SIBO SOS has now helped thousands of people.
